Charlton Evan recently did an interview with Ashley at the ASB Classic 2006 and forwarded the interview to www.harkleroad.net for all her fans to read.

Q - How does it feel to be back I mean this tournament's traditionally been good to you?

Ashley - Yeah I made finals here in I think 2004, its a nice tournament I've always liked it so I was excited to come back. I'm happy to play qualies here though, but y'know we're taking it one step at a time.

Q - Marina Erakovic's Maindraw wildcard has gone to Viktoria Azarenka, but I understand that it was between you and her, how do you feel about just missing out?

Ashley - Well, it doesn't really matter, I didn't know that but y'know I was ready to play qualies anyway.

Q - Is it sometimes better to play qaulies so that you can get the match play under your belt...especially at this time of the year or would you rather go into the maindraw?

Ashley - Oh, I would rather go into the main draw. I would rather be in the main draw than have to play 3 matches, to try and get in but I've done it before, I've qualied here before when I was younger y'know its a long season and its the first tournament of the year, so I'll just try and get back as quickly as I can.

Q - Some big names in qualies this time around?

Ashley - Yeah, there's a lot of good girls in qualies... a lot...there's a lot of girls that have you know have taken time off like me and and a few others and are back. Y'know trying to come back like me so, its gonna be tough.

Q - And I think since you were here last in 2004, you've gotten married?

Ashley - Yeah I've been married for a year already...so I love it.

Q - To Alex Bogamolov?

Ashley - ...Junior...yeah...I love it, I love him, I love been married and I've got a life at home so this is what I do for a living.

Q - So how hard is it to balance married life with life on the tennis circuit?

Ashley - Its not really that difficult, I mean, we have our life at home, our family and, then we have tennis, its 2 different things and when we're on the road we play tennis when we're not we enjoy ourselves at home and we don't think about it, so its a good compromise really.

Q - And finally whats your New Years Resolution?

Ashley - My new year's resolution is....to try and qualify here...(giggles).
